These Terms & Conditions apply to all offerings provided by AMS.
By booking, paying for, or participating in any AMS offering, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms.
1. Contract Formation
A legally binding contract is formed when:
- your booking is accepted by AMS; and
- payment (or deposit) is received.
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and AMS.
You confirm that you have not relied on any representations outside of these Terms.
2. Nature of the Training
AMS provides professional practitioner training and education in shamanic practice, energy work and related disciplines.
- AMS offerings are not therapy, counselling, medical or psychological treatment.
- Participation does not guarantee specific outcomes, healing, income or professional success beyond what is explicitly stated.
- You remain fully responsible for your own wellbeing, choices, actions and integration.
3. Eligibility & Personal Responsibility
By enrolling, you confirm that:
- you are physically, mentally and emotionally able to participate;
- you understand that the training may be intensive or emotionally challenging;
- you are responsible for seeking appropriate medical, psychological or professional advice where needed.
4. Health Disclosure, Honesty & Contraindications
For the safety and wellbeing of all participants, you agree to provide honest, accurate and complete information in all joining forms, health questionnaires and communications with AMS.
This includes disclosure of any current or past factors relevant to safe participation, including (but not limited to):
- alcohol or drug use, dependency or addiction
- mental health history, diagnoses, symptoms or episodes
- current or past psychiatric care
- prescription medication, including psychotropic medication
- physical health conditions, symptoms or diagnoses
- any other factors that may reasonably affect participation, regulation or safety
Failure to disclose relevant information, or providing incomplete or misleading information, may compromise safety.
AMS reserves the right, at its discretion, to refuse, pause or terminate participation where disclosed or undisclosed information indicates the training is not appropriate or safe.
No refund is due in such circumstances.
5. Payments & Fees
- Course fees are as stated at the time of booking.
- Payment may be made in full or via an agreed payment plan.
- Failure to make payments when due may result in suspension or termination of access.
Fees may include online materials, mentoring and/or in-person modules as described at booking.
6. Cooling-Off Period (Consumer Bookings)
Where you book as a consumer via distance means (e.g. online), you may have a 14-day statutory cooling-off period, unless the training has commenced.
Commencement of Training
For AMS courses:
- Access to any online course materials constitutes commencement of the service.
- Where you request and receive access within 14 days of booking, you acknowledge that:
- the cooling-off right ends; and
- course fees become non-refundable.
Once training has commenced, the cooling-off period no longer applies.
7. Refund Policy
7.1 General Policy
Except where required by law:
- Course fees are non-refundable once training has commenced.
This applies regardless of:
- attendance
- changes in personal circumstances
- later inability to attend in-person modules
7.2 No Reinstatement of Refund Rights
Deferrals, transfers or date changes do not reinstate refund eligibility.
8. Deferrals
Deferrals are offered at the discretion of AMS, not as an entitlement.
8.1 Requesting a Deferral
- Requests must be made in writing.
- Approval is subject to availability and timing.
- Administrative or transfer fees may apply.
8.2 Maximum Deferral Period
- All payments and course credits must be used within a maximum of two (2) years from the original course start date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- After this period, unused credits expire and no refund is due.
8.3 Multiple Deferrals
Multiple deferrals do not create an entitlement to:
- indefinite postponement, or
- a refund.
Granting a deferral does not reset contractual obligations.
9. Transfers & Course Credits
- Transfers to future courses or modules are subject to availability and approval.
- Course credits:
- have no cash value;
- cannot be exchanged for a refund;
- must be used within the stated time limits.
10. In-Person Modules & Accommodation
- In-person modules are subject to minimum numbers and venue availability.
- Accommodation and catering:
- are booked separately;
- are governed by venue terms;
- may be non-refundable once committed.
AMS is not responsible for travel, accommodation or personal expenses.
11. Alcohol Prohibition
For the safety and wellbeing of all participants, alcohol is strictly prohibited during AMS courses, trainings, retreats and in-person modules.
Attendance under the influence of alcohol, or consumption of alcohol during the training period, constitutes a serious breach of these Terms and may result in immediate removal without refund.
12. Substances, Medicines & Prohibited Distribution
Participants must not sell, share, supply, distribute or offer any substances to other participants at any time in connection with AMS offerings.
This includes (but is not limited to):
- prescription medication
- over-the-counter medicines
- plant medicines or herbal preparations
- supplements
- psychoactive substances
- illegal or controlled drugs
Any breach of this clause constitutes a serious breach and may result in immediate removal without refund.
13. Sexual Boundaries & Intimate Relationships
AMS trainings involve deep personal, emotional and energetic work within a contained group setting. For the safety, clarity and wellbeing of all participants, clear sexual boundaries are required.
Participant–Participant Boundaries
Participants agree not to engage in sexual or intimate relationships with other participants during any in-person module, retreat or residential training, and for a minimum period of two (2) weeks following the completion of that module or retreat, unless they are already in an established sexual relationship prior to the training.
Participant–Team Member Boundaries
Participants agree not to engage in sexual or intimate relationships with any AMS facilitator, assistant, mentor, staff member or team member:
- during the course or training, and
- for a minimum period of six (6) months following the completion of the training or last module attended.
This boundary exists to prevent power imbalance, dependency, coercion or confusion, and to protect the integrity of the training and the wellbeing of all involved.
Breach of Sexual Boundaries
Breach of these boundaries constitutes a serious breach of these Terms and may result in immediate removal from the training or event, without refund, and/or withdrawal of certification or alumni status.
14. Personal Responsibility & Influence on Others
Participants are responsible for their own personal choices.
However, encouraging, pressuring or influencing other participants to engage in behaviours that undermine safety, regulation, learning capacity or group integrity is not acceptable.
AMS reserves the right to intervene where behaviour negatively impacts individuals or the group.
15. Conduct, Safety & Removal
Participants are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly at all times.
AMS reserves the right to refuse participation or remove a participant where safety, boundaries, ethics or group integrity are compromised.
No refund is due in such circumstances.
16. Missed Sessions
Attendance is your responsibility.
Recordings or private mentoring may be offered where available, at AMS’s discretion and/or at additional cost.
17. Teaching Rights & Intellectual Property
AMS courses are professional practitioner trainings and are not teacher-training programmes.
Completion of any AMS course does not grant permission to teach, train, facilitate, certify others, or represent AMS material as your own, during or after completion of the course.
All course content — including written materials, videos, recordings, processes, frameworks, language, methodologies, rituals and exercises — remains the intellectual property of Academy of Modern Shamanism Ltd.
You may not copy, reproduce, share, publish, sell, license, distribute, adapt or teach this material, in whole or in part, without prior written consent.
AMS may offer a separate teacher-training or licensing pathway in the future. Until such time, no teaching rights are implied or granted.
Unauthorised use of AMS materials constitutes a breach of contract and may result in withdrawal of certification or alumni status without refund.
18. Confidentiality
Participants agree to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information and processes shared by others during training, both during and after participation.
19. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to this, AMS is not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Total liability is limited to the amount paid for the relevant course.
20. Force Majeure
AMS is not liable for delays or cancellations due to events beyond reasonable control, including illness, extreme weather, venue issues, travel disruption or government restrictions.
Where possible, affected modules will be rescheduled or credited.
21. Termination
AMS may terminate participation immediately where:
- payment obligations are not met;
- there is a serious breach of these Terms;
- safety, integrity or ethics are compromised.
No refund is due.
22. General
- These Terms constitute the entire agreement.
- If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains valid.
- This agreement is governed by English law, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
