‘Curses’ – acts with malevolent intentions – may be intentional or unconscious and in my opinion can be passed down ancestral lines or even whole cultures. They might come from a phrase heard or repeated in childhood by parents or teachers, or ones we tell ourselves, due to limiting beliefs – about money, our worth and potential – ‘we can’t afford it”; “money doesn’t grow on trees”; “children should be seen and not heard”; “you’re driving me crazy”; “mutton dressed as lamb”; “that’s not a job for a woman”; “you’ll never amount to anything”; “don’t be stupid”; “You’re useless’; “it’s impossible”; “It’s not fair!”; “God will be angry if…”; “You’ll go to hell if…” “don’t get ideas above your station”; “that’s not for the likes of us”; “She’s out of your league” and so on… what disempowering phrases did you hear or continue to say to yourself? Is it possible to catch yourself and change it to something loving and life-affirming?
In my experience, curses can also come from unconscious or deliberate acts of sorcery, fuelled by revenge, hatred or jealousy for example. If we can send energy with healing intentions, then there must surely be a potential to send energy for harm. It surprises me that practitioners would deliberately do this, as surely they must realise it will only come back on them in the form of karma/cause and effect – but somehow their narcissism seems to justify it to them and they carry on regardless.
Some of you may remember the kids TV cartoon ‘Wacky Races’ where the villain ‘Dastardly’ in his ‘Mean Machine’ car tried all kinds of trickery and cheating to win the race. Upon tasting defeat, Dastardly would utter his catchphrases: “Drat, drat, and double drat!”; “Muttley, do something!” and ‘”Curses! Foiled again!” (A long time ago, I had a T shirt with Mutley the dog on!)
